Projects
Overview
Projects are the main way to organize your work in 42feeds.
Each project represents a separate workspace where you manage feeds, mappings, exports, and automation for a specific store, brand, client, or environment. All data inside a project is fully isolated from other projects.
Think of projects as independent containers — changes in one project never affect another.
What Is a Project?
A project contains everything related to a specific setup, including:
- Imported product feeds
- Project Fields and field mappings
- Transformation rules
- Export templates
- Scheduled imports and exports
- Feed quality checks
- Activity and audit logs
- Team members and permissions
If you work with multiple stores, brands, or clients, projects help you keep everything clean and separated.
Default Project
When you create a 42feeds account, a default project is created automatically.
- The default project cannot be deleted
- It acts as a fallback workspace
- It is marked with a Default label in the interface
You can continue using the default project or create additional projects as needed.
Active Project
At any time, one project is marked as your active project.
The active project determines:
- Which feeds you see
- Which exports are generated
- Which settings and rules apply
When you switch projects, the entire app updates instantly to show data from the selected project.
Your active project is remembered across sessions.
Creating a Project
To create a new project:
- Open Projects from the sidebar
- Click New Project
- Enter a project name
- Optionally add a description
- Click Create Project
Project Limits
The number of projects you can create depends on your plan:
- Free plan: 1 project
- Deep Thought plan: Up to 3 projects
Editing a Project
You can update a project's name or description at any time.
- Open the Projects page
- Select the project you want to edit
- Click the edit icon
- Make your changes
- Save
Deleting a Project
Projects can be deleted as long as they are not the default project.
To delete a project:
- Open the Projects page
- Select the project
- Click the delete icon
- Confirm the action
⚠️ Warning:
Deleting a project permanently removes all feeds, exports, schedules, and configurations inside it. This action cannot be undone.
Switching Between Projects
You can switch projects in two ways:
- Project selector: Use the dropdown in the sidebar
- Projects page: Click on a project to activate it
The active project is clearly marked in the UI.
Project Collaboration
Projects support team collaboration with role-based access.
You can invite team members to a project and control what they are allowed to do.
Inviting Team Members
To invite someone to a project:
- Open Project Settings or Team Settings
- Enter the email address
- Select a role
- Send the invitation
Invitations are valid for 7 days and can be canceled at any time.
Roles and Permissions
Each team member has one of the following roles:
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Viewer | View feeds, exports, and reports |
| Editor | Create and edit feeds, mappings, and exports |
| Admin | Manage project settings and team members |
Merge Key Field (Project-Level)
Each project can define a merge key field.
The merge key is used to match and combine items when multiple feeds are imported into the same project. Common merge keys include:
- SKU
- Product ID
- GTIN / EAN
- Item ID
The merge key applies to all feed merging inside the project and ensures that data from different sources is combined correctly.
Recommended Project Structures
One Project per Client
If you work as an agency:
- Create one project per client
- Add client team members only to their project
- Keep configurations fully isolated
One Project per Store or Brand
If you manage multiple stores or brands:
- Create one project per store
- Customize exports and rules per channel
- Avoid cross-store data conflicts
Separate Projects for Testing
For safe experimentation:
- Use a Staging or Test project
- Validate mappings and exports there
- Keep production projects clean and stable
Activity Tracking
All important actions inside a project are logged, including:
- Feed imports
- Export runs
- Configuration changes
- Team activity
This makes it easy to audit changes and troubleshoot issues.
Summary
Projects help you:
- Keep data clean and isolated
- Manage multiple stores, brands, or clients
- Collaborate with teams safely
- Scale your feed operations without chaos
If you work with more than one data source or setup, projects are essential to staying organized.
