Notification Center
The Notification Center is your central hub for real-time updates and important alerts within 42feeds. It keeps you informed about background processes and account-wide announcements without interrupting your workflow.
Accessing Notificationsโ
You can access the Notification Center from any page in the application.
- Locate the Bell icon in the top header.
- An Unread Count Badge (e.g., "3") will appear on the bell if you have new notifications.
- Click the bell to open the notification popover.
Understanding the Interfaceโ
The notification popover is organized into three tabs to help you manage different types of updates:
All Notificationsโ
A chronological list of every notification received, starting with the most recent.
Unreadโ
Focuses exclusively on items you haven't seen yet. Once you read or mark a notification as read, it disappears from this tab.
Announcements (๐ข)โ
Dedicated to product updates, new features, and important news from the 42feeds team (the "Galactic Feed Council").
Empty Statesโ
If you have no notifications, you might see some helpful messages:
- All Notifications: "Don't panic! 42 will notify you when something happens."
- Unread: "All caught up! You've read everything. Have a towel. ๐งบ"
- Announcements: "Check back for updates from the Galactic Feed Council."
Notification Typesโ
Each notification is color-coded by severity or type:
| Type | Style | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Success | Green | Confirms successful completion of an action (e.g., "Feed import successful"). |
| Info | Blue | General information about system processes. |
| Warning | Yellow | Items that require your attention but aren't critical. |
| Error | Red | Critical issues that failed (e.g., "Scheduled import failed"). |
| Announcement | Purple | Product news and updates. |
Managing Your Notificationsโ
Inside the popover, you can take several actions:
- Mark as Read (Check Icon): Mark an individual notification as seen. It will remain in the "All" tab but lose its highlight.
- Delete (Trash Icon): Permanently remove a notification from your history.
- Navigate (External Link Icon): Many notifications include a "deep link" that takes you directly to the relevant page (e.g., clicking a feed error notification takes you to the Feed Detail page).
- Mark All Read: Quickly clear your unread count by clicking the "Mark all read" button at the top of the popover.
Notification Settingsโ
To customize which notifications you receive:
- Click the Settings (Cog Icon) inside the Notification Center popover.
- This will take you to the Notification Preferences section on the Settings page.
- Use the toggle switches to enable or disable specific notification categories.
Best Practicesโ
- Check notifications regularly to stay informed about scheduled background tasks.
- Use deep links to quickly navigate to issues that need your attention.
- Clear your unread list frequently to ensure you don't miss new, important alerts.
- Enable quality alerts in settings to get notified immediately when feed issues are detected.
